The tuesday night western speedway supermoto open practices alleviate ALOT of those concerns... It's why i got a SM this winter instead of an RR track bike... i could only get down to one track weekend in seattle but had many more chances to hit up langford!

Well worth it, and a great group of people!

+2 I liked riding Supermoto last year at Western- so close to the home - regular schedule so you can carry on improvement week to week.  dirtbike_smilie

I think eventually I will try a track day as well - I really liked the ART class as Saratoga, but the track felt a little small to really get out of 1st-2nd gear briefly into 3rd a few times (on the CBR) then quickly gearing down for the corners. I'm sure Dean who was also on CBR600RR 9with ten times more riding skill) gets more out of the track. My brother lives in Richmond VA and also rides - he wants us to do a track day there - which would be sooo fun.

All that will be on hold until I get this cast off and some rehab though - should be good to go by Supermoto season.

I keep visiting the bikes in the garage for now. motorcyclelove_smilie

Nope she blocked a slap shot in hockey point blank  broke her hand through her gloves. I wouldn't want to piss her off.

It's the point where your scanning can't keep up with the speed that you are traveling.

If you were riding in a static environment, I might agree completely with this. However, since we are on the highway with many other drivers in a dynamic situation over which we ultimately have control only over ourselves, I might suggest that this has to include the point where you can no longer react to what is happening around you. You might be able to scan, identify and process, but if the point of no return is before the point of actual perception, you might just be history.

Ah, touche.
I've always considered the assumption of being able to react with "scanning". I'll work on rephrasing that in the future.

Yes, I know from experience how difficult it can be to explain everything just right. Everyone reads it just a little differently...
